Front upper ball joint designed as a direct replacement for select 1995–2011 Ford, Mazda, and Mercury vehicles. This ball joint secures the control arm to the steering knuckle, allowing smooth pivoting of the suspension while maintaining proper wheel alignment and steering response. Built for durability and reliable performance, it restores worn or failed joints to factory-like function and reduces vibration, uneven tire wear, and steering play. Note: this replacement will fit many aftermarket control arms but may not be compatible with some original equipment (OE) arms — verify fitment before installation.

  • pickle fork or ball joint separator (optional)
  • hammer

  • penetrating oil
  • safety glasses and gloves
Instructions:
  1. Park vehicle on level ground, engage parking brake and block rear wheels.
  2. Loosen lug nuts on the front wheel, then raise the vehicle with a jack and support securely on jack stands.
  3. Remove the front wheel to access the upper control arm and ball joint.
  4. Apply penetrating oil to fasteners and remove the cotter pin and castle nut from the ball joint stud if present.
  5. Separate the ball joint stud from the steering knuckle using a ball joint separator or pickle fork; support the knuckle to avoid stressing brake lines.
  6. Remove any retaining circlips or press-fit retaining components as required for your application.
  7. Use a ball joint press or appropriate press adapters to press the old ball joint out of the control arm.
  8. Press the replacement ball joint into the control arm until fully seated; ensure alignment and correct orientation.
  9. Reinstall the ball joint stud into the steering knuckle, install the castle nut and torque to manufacturer specification; insert new cotter pin if applicable.
  10. Reinstall wheel, lower vehicle, torque lug nuts to specification, and perform a wheel alignment if needed.
