Instructions:
- Park on a level surface, engage parking brake and chock rear wheels. Loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly.
- Raise the vehicle with a jack and secure it on jack stands. Remove the front wheel to access the tie rod assembly.
- Locate the inner tie rod and apply penetrating oil to fasteners if corroded. Remove any steering rack boots or clamps to expose the inner tie rod.
- Disconnect the outer tie rod end from the steering knuckle (if needed) and mark or count turns to preserve rough alignment, or measure length for reference.
- Use the appropriate inner tie rod removal tool or socket to unthread and remove the old inner tie rod from the steering rack.
- Compare the new part to the old part to verify fitment. Thread the new inner tie rod into the steering rack by hand, then tighten to the manufacturer-specified torque using a torque wrench.
- Reattach the outer tie rod end and secure cotter pins or nuts as required. Reinstall steering rack boot and clamps.
- Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque wheel lug nuts to specification.
- Because replacing an inner tie rod can change wheel alignment, have a professional wheel alignment performed immediately after installation.
