Inner tie rod end designed for 2002–2009 Buick, Chevrolet, GMC, Isuzu, Oldsmobile and Saab vehicles. This replacement inner tie rod end connects the steering rack to the outer tie rod, maintaining precise steering geometry and helping ensure safe, responsive steering. Built to resist wear and provide consistent performance, it restores steering feel and reduces play caused by a worn or damaged component. Suitable for both right-hand and left-hand applications with a 16 mm thread at the shaft end, this part is a direct-fit option for suspension and steering system maintenance or restoration projects.
Features:
  • Fitment: 2002-2009 Buick, Chevrolet, GMC, Isuzu, Oldsmobile and Saab models (inner tie rod end, right or left hand).
  • 16 mm thread at shaft end for proper fitment to compatible outer tie rods and rack assemblies.
  • Constructed from high-strength steel with corrosion-resistant finish for long-lasting durability.
  • Restores steering precision by eliminating play and improving alignment retention.
  • Reusable ball stud and boot design for reliable operation; protective boot helps keep contaminants out.
  • Direct-replacement part suitable for routine maintenance, steering system repairs, and restorations.
  • Easy-to-install design compatible with common shop tools to reduce labor time.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 3/5
  • Estimated time: 60-120 minutes
Suggested Tools:
  • jack and jack stands
  • wheel chocks
  • lug wrench
  • tie rod end puller or pickle fork
  • adjustable wrench or proper-size open-end wrench
  • socket set and ratchet
  • torque wrench
  • marker or paint pen
  • grease (if required) and grease gun
Instructions:
  1. Park vehicle on level ground, set parking brake, and place wheel chocks behind rear wheels.
  2. Loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly, raise vehicle with a jack, and support securely on jack stands. Remove the wheel.
  3. Locate the inner tie rod end on the steering rack and inspect the outer tie rod connection.
  4. Mark the position of the outer tie rod relative to the inner thread or count turns to preserve alignment settings for initial installation.
  5. Remove the cotter pin and loosen the castle nut (if equipped) securing the outer tie rod to the steering knuckle, then detach the outer tie rod using a puller or pickle fork.
  6. Loosen and remove any retaining hardware or clamps securing the steering rack boot and slide the boot back to expose the inner tie rod.
  7. Use an inner tie rod tool or appropriate adapter and a breaker bar/ratchet to loosen and remove the inner tie rod from the steering rack.
  8. Compare the new part to the old unit to ensure correct thread size and length. Apply thread lubricant if recommended by the vehicle service manual.
  9. Install the new inner tie rod by threading it onto the rack to the marked or counted position, then torque to manufacturer specifications.
  10. Reposition and secure the steering rack boot and any clamps. Reconnect the outer tie rod to the steering knuckle and torque the nut to spec; install a new cotter pin if required.
  11. Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque the lug nuts to specification.
  12. Have a professional wheel alignment performed after installation to ensure correct steering geometry and tire wear.
