Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 3/5
- Estimated time: 1–2 hours
Instructions:
- Prepare the work area: park on a level surface, roll window up, and disconnect the battery if removing powered window components.
- Remove the interior door panel and any trim or hardware that blocks access to the beltline and glass run areas.
- Carefully remove the old beltline molding and glass run channels: loosen retainers or clips, slide out channels, and pull moldings away from the door edge. Use a trim tool to avoid damaging paint.
- Clean the channels and surrounding metal thoroughly with rubbing alcohol or contact cleaner to remove dirt, adhesive residue, and corrosion.
- Test-fit each new piece in place (left and right) to confirm orientation and fit. Apply a small amount of silicone spray or rubber lubricant to the glass-run lips to ease window movement during installation.
- If required, apply a thin bead of weatherstrip cement to the mounting surfaces per adhesive manufacturer's instructions. Slide or press the new glass run channels into the window opening, ensuring full seating against stops and guides.
- Install the beltline moldings along the top edge of the door, engaging any clips or retainer points. Tap gently with a rubber mallet if needed to seat the molding evenly.
- Reinstall any removed hardware and the interior door panel. Operate the window several times to confirm smooth travel and proper alignment; make micro-adjustments as needed.
- Perform a water and wind-noise check; if leaks persist, re-check seating and add additional adhesive or adjust seals as necessary.
