- Remove the old weatherstrip: carefully pry out or pull away the existing seal using a trim tool. Cut away any stubborn remnants with a utility knife.
- Clean the mounting channel thoroughly with rubbing alcohol or degreaser; remove rust, dirt and old adhesive to ensure a good bond.
- Dry-fit the new seal along the channel to confirm orientation (left-hand) and fit. Trim excess with scissors or a utility knife if necessary.
- Apply a thin bead of weatherstrip adhesive in short sections along the channel (follow adhesive manufacturer instructions).
- Starting at one end, press the new weatherstrip into the channel, ensuring the profile seats fully. Use soapy water or spray lubricant to help slide tight areas if needed.
- Secure corners and ends with small pieces of masking tape while the adhesive cures (per adhesive cure times).
- Wipe away any excess adhesive promptly. After cure, remove masking tape and cycle the window (if applicable) to confirm smooth operation and proper sealing.
