Instructions:
- Confirm this part (WBL 653) is the correct seal for your vehicle and review the vehicle service manual — some installs require windshield removal.
- Protect surrounding paint and glass with masking tape, then carefully remove exterior trim and the old weatherstrip using plastic pry tools to avoid damage.
- If the windshield must be removed for full access, follow safe glass removal procedures or have a professional perform the removal.
- Thoroughly clean the windshield flange, channel and surrounding area. Remove all old adhesive, sealant, dirt and rust using isopropyl alcohol and clean rags; allow to dry.
- Dry-fit the new weatherstrip along the flange to confirm orientation and length. Trim any excess only after dry-fitting.
- If the application calls for adhesive, apply a thin, even bead of recommended weatherstrip adhesive to the flange per the adhesive manufacturer's instructions.
- Begin seating the seal at the top center of the windshield and work outward toward the corners. Press the seal firmly into the flange, using a rubber mallet or block of wood to evenly seat the bead without deforming the seal.
- Pay close attention to corner areas and joints; adjust and trim small amounts as needed for a snug fit.
- Reinstall any exterior trim pieces removed earlier and clean the area of fingerprints and residue.
- Allow any adhesive to cure for the recommended time before driving. After curing, check for leaks by spraying water and inspecting interior for moisture; re-seat or reapply adhesive if necessary.
