Front upper ball joint designed to restore safe steering and suspension geometry for 1960–2003 Chrysler, Dodge, International, and Plymouth vehicles. This replacement upper front ball joint secures the control arm to the steering knuckle, allowing smooth pivoting while resisting wear and road shock. Built for durability and reliable performance, it helps eliminate play, reduce uneven tire wear, and restore proper alignment. Ideal for restoration projects and routine suspension maintenance, the part fits either right or left upper front positions and is engineered for straightforward installation and long service life.
Features:
  • Fits 1960–2003 Chrysler, Dodge, International, and Plymouth vehicles — front upper, right or left hand.
  • Precision-machined ball stud and hardened housing for consistent steering response.
  • Seals and grease fittings (where applicable) reduce contamination and extend service life.
  • Designed to replace worn factory upper ball joints to eliminate play and uneven tire wear.
  • Durable construction resists corrosion and road impact for long-term reliability.
  • Direct-replacement fit for restoration and maintenance applications; easy to swap into existing suspension.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 3/5
  • Estimated time: 60–120 minutes per side
Suggested Tools:
  • Hydraulic floor jack and jack stands
  • Lug wrench
  • Socket set and ratchet
  • Torque wrench
  • Ball joint press or ball joint removal tool
  • Pry bar
  • Hammer
  • Needle-nose pliers or snap-ring pliers (if applicable)
  • Penetrating oil
  • Safety glasses and gloves
Instructions:
  1. Park on level ground, engage parking brake, loosen lug nuts slightly, then raise vehicle and secure on jack stands; remove the wheel.
  2. Inspect surrounding suspension components and spray penetrating oil on fasteners; remove cotter pin and castle nut from the ball joint stud if present.
  3. Disconnect any sway bar links or tie rod ends as needed to gain access to the control arm and steering knuckle.
  4. Separate the ball joint stud from the steering knuckle using a ball joint separator or pickle fork, taking care not to damage the knuckle.
  5. Support the control arm and remove mounting bolts or use a ball joint press to press out the old ball joint from the control arm (follow vehicle-specific service manual guidance).
  6. Clean the control arm bore and compare the new ball joint to the old unit for correct orientation and fit.
  7. Press the new ball joint into the control arm using a ball joint press or install per the manufacturer’s instructions; secure with supplied nut and torque to factory specification.
  8. If equipped, install a new cotter pin and bend to secure; reinstall any disconnected components (tie rod, sway bar links).
  9. Reinstall wheel, lower vehicle, and torque lug nuts to specification; perform a test drive and check steering behavior.
  10. It is recommended to have a professional wheel alignment performed after replacing suspension components to ensure proper tire wear and handling.
