Front upper ball joint engineered for 1989–2022 Ford and Mazda applications, designed to replace worn factory units and restore proper steering and suspension geometry. This ball joint secures the control arm to the steering knuckle, maintains alignment under load, and resists wear thanks to robust materials and a greaseable design. The integrated 60 mm pinch bolt interface ensures a precise fit for compatible knuckles, while the grease port allows easy periodic lubrication to extend service life. Ideal for restoration, maintenance, and performance-oriented repairs, it delivers dependable handling, reduced noise, and improved suspension longevity.
Features:
- Fitment: Direct-fit front upper ball joint for select 1989–2022 Ford and Mazda models (driver or passenger side, verify vehicle-specific compatibility).
- Material: Durable hardened steel ball stud and corrosion-resistant housing for long-lasting performance.
- Function: Secures the control arm to the steering knuckle, restoring proper steering geometry and reducing play.
- Design: Includes 60 mm pinch bolt interface for correct clamping to compatible knuckles.
- Serviceability: Built-in grease port lets you add lubricant to extend service life and reduce wear.
- Installation: Designed as a straightforward replacement part for restoration and routine suspension maintenance.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 45-90 minutes per side
Instructions:
- Park on level ground, engage parking brake, loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly.
- Raise vehicle with floor jack and secure on jack stands. Remove the front wheel.
- Spray penetrating oil on the pinch bolt and ball joint fasteners; allow to soak.
- Remove the pinch bolt and any retaining hardware securing the ball joint to the knuckle.
- Use a ball joint press or appropriate removal tool to press out the old ball joint from the control arm. A pickle fork can be used if necessary but may stress components.
- Clean the control arm bore and inspect the knuckle and control arm for damage or excessive wear.
- Press the new ball joint into the control arm until fully seated, following orientation marks and manufacturer torque specs where applicable.
- Reinstall the pinch bolt and any retaining hardware. Torque all fasteners to the vehicle manufacturer's specifications.
- Reconnect any components removed (tie rod ends, sway bar links) and reinstall the wheel.
- Lower the vehicle, torque the wheel lug nuts to specification, and pump grease into the ball joint via the grease port until fresh grease appears at the boot.
- Test-drive at low speed to confirm proper operation, then recheck fastener torque and grease fitting for leaks.
