Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Instructions:
- Carefully remove the vent glass assembly from the door according to your vehicle’s service procedures, or open the vent to access the seal if removable without full disassembly.
- Gently pry out and remove the old weatherstrip using a plastic trim tool or wrapped screwdriver to avoid damaging the channel or glass.
- Clean the channel and surrounding area thoroughly with rubbing alcohol or an appropriate cleaner to remove dirt, old adhesive, and debris. Allow to dry.
- Test-fit the new seal pieces in the channel to confirm orientation (left/right) and fit before final installation.
- If desired, apply a thin bead of weatherstrip adhesive inside the channel or along the seal’s contact surface for added retention (adhesive often not required for push-in designs).
- Starting at one end, press the new seal into the channel, working along its length and ensuring the lip seats evenly against the glass and channel.
- Reinstall the vent glass assembly into the door and operate the vent to check for proper movement and sealing. Adjust as needed.
- Allow any adhesive to cure per manufacturer instructions before exposing the area to moisture or driving at high speeds.
