Direct-fit lower windshield frame seal for 1966–1977 Ford Bronco models. This replacement weatherstrip seals the lower edge of the windshield frame to prevent water intrusion, reduce wind noise, and protect the windshield and body flange from wear and corrosion. Made from durable, weather- and UV-resistant rubber, it restores original fit and finish for restoration or maintenance projects and provides a long-lasting, reliable seal that’s straightforward to install with basic tools.
Features:
- Fits 1966–1977 Ford Bronco lower windshield frames (direct replacement).
- Durable, weather- and UV-resistant rubber construction for long service life.
- Seals the lower windshield frame to prevent leaks, wind noise, and debris entry.
- OEM-style profile restores original appearance and proper glass seating.
- Designed for restoration and replacement applications; reduces vibration and chafe.
- Straightforward installation — can often be installed without windshield removal on many vehicles.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 3/5
- Estimated time: 1–2 hours
Instructions:
- Prepare the vehicle: park on level ground, disconnect the negative battery terminal (if removing electrical components), and remove windshield wipers and lower cowl/trim as needed to access the lower windshield frame.
- Remove the old seal: carefully pry out the existing lower windshield seal using a plastic trim tool or protected flat screwdriver. Cut and pull out any stubborn sections; avoid scratching the glass or paint.
- Clean the channel: remove old adhesive, dirt, and debris from the frame channel using isopropyl alcohol and clean rags. Make sure the metal is dry and free of rust; treat any surface rust before installing the new seal.
- Test-fit the new seal: position the new seal in the channel without adhesive to confirm orientation and fit. Trim any excess only after confirming proper placement.
- Apply adhesive (if desired): apply a thin, even bead of weatherstrip adhesive to the channel or seal lip per adhesive manufacturer instructions. Some seals are designed to hold without adhesive but adhesive improves retention and sealing.
- Install the seal: starting from the center, press the seal into the lower channel and work outward toward each corner. Use your hands or a rubber mallet (with a cloth) to seat the seal fully into the channel. Ensure consistent engagement along the entire length.
- Reassemble trim: reinstall the lower cowl, wipers, and any removed trim. If windshield removal was required, follow proper glass installation procedures or have a professional reinstall the windshield.
- Allow adhesive to cure: if adhesive was used, follow the manufacturer’s recommended cure time before exposing the vehicle to water or driving at highway speeds (typically 30 minutes to several hours).
- Final check: inspect for uniform sealing, look for gaps, and test for leaks by gently spraying water along the lower windshield after cure time.
